Connecting With Your Divine Wisdom
Yoga means to join or yoke together. Through the practice of yoga, we are yoking together all the parts of us: our bodies, our minds, our thoughts, our spirits. We are joining together our lower self (the finite) with our Higher Self (the Infinite) or Atman. The Upanishads, written around 1500 BC to 500 BC, describe the Atman as one with God/Brahman.
Ruysbroeck, a great mystic of medieval Europe describes this merger as, “The image of God is found essentially and personally in all mankind. Each possesses it whole, entire and undivided, and all together not more than one alone. In this way we are all one, intimately united in our eternal image, which is the image of God and the source is in us all of our life.”
This month of May has rolled in mostly cloudy, damp and chilly. Yet, May is still the time in nature of fertility, new births and new growths, with flowers blooming, bees pollinating and baby birds snuggling in their nests, getting ready to take flight.
At Blissful Yoga, we also have some new growth going on, with 8 yogis that have joined us for our 200 hour yoga teacher training program! This is a 6 month transformational course on deepening one’s yoga practice. Congratulations to our 8 yogis that have embarked on this journey!
In my personal life, my son and his family are getting ready to leave the nest of New Jersey and move to West Virginia. We are supposed to give our children, wings so that they can fly, yet this flight that is about to take place feels surreal, damp and cloudy, just like our weather. Needless to say, I’ve been spending as much time as I can with my two month old grandson. Being in Michael’s presence is pure BLISS, and, that is the goal of YOGA.
Just like the changing cycles of the moon, some of my morning yoga routines have changed from a vigorous practice to playing with Michael in the studio. My meditations have changed from silent meditations to feeling Michael’s heartbeat next to mine as he sleeps on my chest, looking into his eyes while he is drinking his bottle and just staring at his precious baby face as he sleeps.
Now I am connecting with my Divine Feminine grandmotherly wisdom, which is a new self discovery. This is a mystical journey that I am on that allows me to honor the importance of spending more time with family, loved ones and especially myself when needed.
In yoga, this connection to the Divine Wisdom that resides in each of us is the connection of the Jivatman, a finite, individual soul which is a reflection of God, with the Atman, the infinite, eternal, Bliss, God or Brahman.
With this in mind, I am beyond excited to offer you a yoga retreat that I am hosting with Shalini Breault, titled
“Connecting with the Divine Feminine”. This retreat is being held just three hours away at The Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. I hope that you can join us for this excursion into your Divine Feminine Wisdom!
With courage, love, service & wisdom,
